The Paris Saint-Germain team bus came under fire from hooligans armed with stones and bricks prior to their Ligue 1 clash on Sunday evening.
The reigning French champions confirmed that their vehicle was stoned and had one of its windows smashed as it travelled towards the stadium.
The bus of opponents Lyon is also believed to have been pelted as it made its way to the ground.
After French TV channel Canal+ showed images of PSG’s damaged bus, a staff member told AFP: “The bus was stoned and the front right window was broken.” He also added that the incident occurred near to Chaville, a town in the suburbs of the French capital.
Stars such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edinson Cavani and Thiago Silva were believed to have been on board as the coach made its way to the Parc des Princes.
Nonetheless, it did nothing to stop the uber-rich Parisiens romping to yet another league win, smashing four past their beleaguered opponents in a comfortable win.
The incident comes just a week after another violent incident saw Saint-Etienne supporters thrown out of the Allianz Riviera stadium in Nice before the Ligue 1 meeting between the clubs last Sunday.
Clashes left eight people injured and caused damage within the ground and Saint-Etienne supporters have since been banned from away matches until the end of the calendar year.
