New strict rules were yesterday implemented by UEFA after a meeting in Nyon (Switzerland) with football leaders from all over Europe represented.
It’s already well know that sectors without seats are not permitted to be used during Champions League and Europa League matches, but now UEFA will suspend clubs if fans stand in normal sectors as well. Short explained, if your group stand during a CL or EL match, UEFA will fine your club and in worst case suspend from the whole tournament!
Fines are said to start on 250.000 euros if fans stand. The fine can also be higher, or perhaps your club will be required to play next matches behind closed doors. That depends on the severity and in worst case UEFA might suspend your club from the tournament.
The new rules will be ready and sent out to clubs already before the next round in Champions League and Europa League, which means the final matches will be played in front of sitting supporters!
