FIFA president Sepp Blatter announced his resignation on Tuesday. Blatter was re-elected Friday for a fifth term as president of world football. A few days before the election several officials from FIFA were arrested because of suspicions of corruption.
The investigation into corruption within FIFA is led by the United States Federal Police FBI. General Secretary Jérôme Valcke, Blatter’s right hand, was pushed foward as a suspect Tuesday by The New York Times. According to the American newspaper, the Frenchman was paid 10 million dollar in bribes. In a first reaction of FIFA Valcke was exonerated of any involvement in suspicious transactions.
At the press conference tonight was anounced that Sepp Blatter will finally resign. Now the waiting starts till more FIFA employees get arrested.
