Last weekend the old firm derby returned, with Rangers playing Celtic at home in the semi-final of the Scottisch Cup. Rangers won eventually after penalties and is through to the final of the Scottish Cup.
Rangers, originated in 1872, were playing in the Scottish Football League since they were founded. Back in 2012 they were relegated back to the Scottish Football League Two because the club went bankrupt. After they changed the name of the club to The Rangers FC, the club wanted to restart in the top league however the other clubs in this league refused so they were relegated. Since then they promoted every year and are back in the top league next season!
Rangers fans we’re up all night to paint the curbs in front of the Celtic pubs.
The rivalry between Rangers and Celtic has always been a fierce one, with both clubs located in Glasgow. The fierce rivalry is not only because they are playing in the same city but is in fact a complex rivalry with a lot of disputes like the Catholic and Protestant, Loyalist and Republicans or British and Irish.
Back to the football, they were playing each other again last weekend in de semi-final of the Scottish Cup which was won by Rangers. With great atmosphere and nice actions by both sides of the Old Firm Derby. On to next year where we can enjoy the Old Firm Derby again how it was back before Rangers relegated.
