Fans of Swedish club AIK were wearing niqabs, which is a religious piece of clothing, in protest against the face masks ban in the stadium of AIK.
The fans of AIK were seen wearing the niqabs during the season opener against Häcken. The new ban is to prevent fans wearing face masks during violence or other mishbehaviour. Only exception on the new rule was people who need to wear it because of their duty like police and firefighters or because of a religious reason. And that exactly what the fans did, they were wearing the niqabs because of religious reasons.
During the matcht they showed a banner with the text; “AIK’s ultras mean well, we’re now wearing masks for religious reasons. Freedom for ultras is the goal, thanks Ygeman for the loophole.”. Ygeman is the minister who introduced the new rule.
And still with the ban they managed to stay anonymous! No Pyro, No Party!
